Electrofisiología Ocular

The electrophysiology diagnosis and treatment equipments includes:

Electrooculogram (EOG)

Provides values of functionality from the retina’s pigmentary epithelium helping to the diagnosis of pathologies from retina degeneration such as retinitis pigmentosa.

Electroretinogram (ERG)

Provides measure from the electric response of the retina cells, including the photoreceptors. In this exam the examiner needs to place electrodes around the eye. This exam gives information to diagnose aged-related macular degeneration, cones diseases, retinitis pigmentosa, retina vascular diseases, among others.

Retinal Camera and Imaging (Cobra)

This equipment allows to make retina imaging and perform a better and more accurate diagnosis of the retina and its electrophysiology.

Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP)

This is a study to value if there is a reduce in the electric messages flow to the brain. The electrodes register the waves and brain responses when there is patterns or light impulses on the screen. This allows to determine if there is a visual function. This exam in used to diagnose macular disease, optic nerve disorders, neuritis, and optic nerve atrophy.

The Clinic has also a special equipment to perform this kind of exam on children and provide a more friendly diagnosis.

Visual Training

This is a revolutionary treatment for the amblyopia (lazy eye), which produces direct stimulation to the brain, helping the patient to improve the visual acuity after several sessions.

This group of electrophysiology diagnosis and treatment equipment is part of our newest Patient’s Attention Center located in Citimed in the Nort-West area of Quito.
